Orders, Medals and Decorations, Viceroy Commissioned Officers, General Service Medal 1918-62, one clasp, Iraq, awarded to Jemadar Mal Singh, 10th Lancers, (Jemdr. Mal Singh), very fine
Jemadar Mal Singh entered service on the 1st August 1897 and commissioned Jemadar on the 7th December 1914. Later promoted to Risaldar; War service shows that he served in Iraq from the 22nd October 1916 to the 10th November 1920. Held a Musketry certificate (Indian Ranks), the regimental history shows that he was awarded a grant of land for his service and was wounded in action in 1918. A scarce bar to this Regiment.
There are two other officers of this name; however, neither of them earned this campaign medal.
Orders, Medals and Decorations, Viceroy Commissioned Officers, General Service Medal 1918-62, one clasp, Kurdistan, awarded to Ressaidar Fateh Singh, 9th Horse (Hodson’s Horse), (Rsdr. Fateh Singh. 9 Horse.), lightly toned very fine.
Ressaidar Fateh Singh entered service on 10th January 1901 and commissioned Jemadar on the 14th November 1916, Ressaidar on the 18th December 1917. He was previously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal as a Daffadar for service in France. The regiment was awarded 38 MSMs for WWI, only 11 of them for France.
