1847 Switzerland - General Guillaume-Henri Dufour's Defeat of the Sonderbund Commemorative Medal by Jean François Antoine Bovy Obverse: LE GENERAL DUFOUR COMMANDIEN CHEF L'ARMEE FEDERAL -- Full military bust facing left. // Reverse: LE PEUPLE SUISSE A L'ARMEE FEDERALE / NOV. 1847 / L'ARMEE / A BIEN MERITE / DE LA / PATRIE -- Swiss Cross, legend below, surrounded by a pair of oak branches all surrounded by legend. Bronze, Proof-like, 37.07 mm, 23.90 g, Edge: Smooth, no mint marks, Original Contemporaneous strike. Signed; "A.BOVY" on the obverse exergue. General Dufour served under Napoleon I and presided over the 1st Geneva Convention which established the International Red Cross. The color of this medal is chocolate brown and much nicer than the color captured in the pictures
